		<description>Following the technology adoption lifecycle, when you try to commercialize a discontinuous technology, you end up transitioning from one market to the next. In each transition, you need new capabilities. Most companies layoff the old capabilities. Then, as they enter late market, they have to cycle back to the beginning and end up building the same capabilities again.

With forethought, you can design an organizational lifecycle in such a way that the people you would have laid off continue to contribute productively. Even without forethought, you end up with processes and knowledge that you need again two transitions down the road.

When you enter the late market, or a recession, there are things to be done. If you did them all, you would be hiring.</description>
