Pattie Vargas, Principal
Pattie Vargas is uniquely qualified to assist organizations achieve lasting, reproducible results. Regarded as an expert in increasing organizational effectiveness by improving interpersonal relationships, her collaborative and facilitative style of coaching and teaching brings about dramatic improvements in workplace performance. Pattie’s qualifications include more than 20 years of team and project management, human performance improvement and organizational development. Her philosophy of aligning people and processes is a natural result of her experience in classical process improvement and technical project management. Experience across a wide array of industries and disciplines have demonstrated that her methodology and approach is applicable to all situations. Before recommending an organizational change of any kind, Pattie always looks at the end-to-end process, in order to design an appropriate intervention or improvement strategy. What might look like a people problem may actually be the result of poorly implemented systems or processes. Poor human performance may be an issue of job fit or communication breakdowns. Without taking a holistic view of the situation, the proposed solution will not likely solve the root cause.
Pattie has developed and delivered successful programs that address issues with employee retention, management development and team effectiveness, collaborating with organizational leaders to deliver coaching and programs unique to their corporate culture and organizational maturity. She is a frequent conference speaker on the topics of inter-personal business relationships, with a particular emphasis on softskills development for technical disciplines. Her articles have been featured in BizSanDiego, PM Connection, ISSIG Bits, Training Trends and WITI Strategist. Her teambuilding methodology was featured in an edition of PMNetwork magazine. Her first book, EXTREME Project Manager Makeover, was released in 2008.
Pattie holds a Masters degree in Organizational Management and a Bachelors degree in Business Management. She also holds the coveted Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute as well as a certification in Total Quality Management and Process Improvement from University of California, San Diego. She is certified in the DISC Behavioral Assessments.
Pattie was named one of the Top 10 Business Women of 2007 by The American Business Women’s Association and serves as one of their National Ambassadors. She was nominated to the 2008 Women Who Mean Business, presented by The San Diego Business Journal.
